The Staff Nurse with exposure to Ophthalmology in an eye hospital plays a crucial role in providing specialized care to patients with eye-related conditions. They are responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care, assisting ophthalmologists during procedures, and ensuring the overall well-being of patients.
Key Responsibilities
Assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care for patients with ophthalmic conditions.
Collaborating with ophthalmologists to assist in eye examinations and procedures.
Administering medications and performing treatments as prescribed by ophthalmologists.
Monitoring and documenting patient's vital signs and eye conditions.
Providing patient education on eye health and post-operative care.
Assisting in the maintenance and cleanliness of ophthalmic equipment and instruments.
Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and care plans.
Responding to emergency situations and providing immediate care to patients in distress.
Ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards.
Contributing to the development and implementation of ophthalmic nursing policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field.
Proven experience in providing nursing care in ophthalmology or eye care settings.
Strong knowledge of ophthalmic conditions, treatments, and medications.
Ability to assess and prioritize patient care needs specific to ophthalmology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
